Thrifty Thursday & the Yard Sale Round-Up 12/4/08

So, it's time for the Thrifty Thursday post and I would like to share one of my favorite Frugal Indy stores with you.

Aunt Millie's Bread Outlet Store is my FAVORITE place to buy bread. I am able to buy Organic Flax Seed Bread for only $.49 a loaf ( that is NOT a typo!) When you go in the store they have a table of breads and rolls for $.49 each and I often find our favorite on that table.

They also carry many other breads, rolls and English muffins, ranging in price from $.49 to around $1.29. Considering that the bread we like is retail priced at $4.49 a loaf $.49 is a great deal!

All their better breads are double wrapped and freeze really well. I have found that even the ones that are close to code are still really good. I just make sure to freeze what we won't use right away.

The pita breads are good for quick little pizzas - top with sauce, cheese and pepperoni and bake. Faster and less expensive than take out when you're in a rush!

The store is located at 8215 Brookville Rd, Indianapolis, IN. (South-East side of the city)

If you are familiar with the Indianapolis area it is just east of the intersection of Brookville Rd and Franklin Rd. and is located on the south side of the street.

If you would like to find the Aunt Millie's Store from 465: Exit at Brookville Rd and go East (towards McDonald's & CVS) , it is only about 1 mile on the right side of the road. (If you get to Post Road you've gone too far.)

The phone # for the store is 317-322-8706.

The Store Hours are:
M-F 9-6
Sat 9-4

Call ahead for Holiday Hours.

If you have a Thrifty Thursday Tip for us leave a comment of write it on your blog and leave a link in the comments section.

Kmart Double Coupons up to $2.00 and more!

is offering double coupons up to $2.00 this week at many of their locations.  This is a great opportunity to stock up on some items for free or a low price!

You can only use 1 coupon per item, only 4 identical coupons per order, and a max of 75 coupons per day.   To find out if your area is participating go here and enter your zip code.  I recommend calling your local store to confirm that they are participating before you shop!

I have gotten some great deals at this sale.  The first time I went I got over $90 of merchandise for around $3.   Tonight when I went my local Super Kmart Store (on East Washington Street, Indianapolis) also had several racks of summer clearance merchandise for .99.  I was able to pick up my son 5 pairs of shorts for next summer for less than $5.  That's better than Goodwill!  And these were nice new items!

I suggest you go early in the week as many items in my local store were already selling out. Also note that you will not get any overages.  The register will only give up to the item's price. And you cannot use Internet printed coupons.

Make sure that you watch carefully as the cashier rings up your coupons because I have had a few coupons that did not ring up correctly.  For the most part, the cashiers have been friendly and were able to correct the coupons for me.

I have only had one cashier who was unhappy about all my coupons -  but I tried to sympathize with her  (really the Kmart cashiers aren't used to all these coupons and having to double them! and their register system doesn't make it easy for them)  and then I told her how that using coupons keeps me home with my 2 children.  By the end of my order, when I paid $3 for $90 in items,  she was chatting with me and wanted to learn how I did it!
