Blog Button

I have (finally) added my blog button! Thanks so much to Stacy for her design help - you can check out Stacy's blogs here and here.

Also, thanks to Mommy's Idea for the post on how to make the grab link! I was procrastination adding the button because I just knew it was going to be hard to make the grab link - but thanks to Mommy's Idea it was super easy! Why did I wait so long?

If you would like to add my button to your blog just "grab" the code under the button in my right column and add it as a gadget with the HTML/Java Script option.

I'm very happy with the design - it was so hard to choose! And I hope that you will add my button to your blog! If you add my button I would love if you would leave me a comment.

If you are a "family friendly" blog and would like me to add your button also leave that in the comments or send me an email at frugalindy@gmail.com

Drugstore Deals 10/25 -31/09

For the Drugstore Deals post today, I thought I would share some of the websites that I like to take a look at when I am getting my shopping list together.

I have found that the best way for me to get good deals is to quickly check out 4 or 5 of my favorite sites to see what they have found and check their list of links for coupons.

I print any coupons that I need, jot my list and go.

When I first started with CVS I had to figure out exactly what I was going to buy and the order - but now I can usually figure it out at the store as I shop.

Here are some of my favorites sites to check each week.

The first site I check is Coupon Cravings. I really like the posts that they do each week listing the things that are "Free and Cheap" at CVS, Rite-Aid and Walgreens.

Next, I stop by Money Saving Mom. You can check her posts: CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid. This is a good site to have in your reader so that you will get updates on deals during the week.

Here are some links to other good sites to check, you will recognize some of them as faithful links here on Drugstore Deals!

Budget Saving Mom

Bargain Briana

Coupons Deals and More: CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid.

Saving in Akron: CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid.

Sisterly Savings: CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid.

The Coupon Monkey: CVS

Please link your "Drugstore Deal" here too!

When you post your link:
  • Link directly to your drugstore deal (CVS, Walgreens, Rite-Aid) post for that week.
  • Please include the name of the drugstore in the Link.
  • If you have several posts covering several drugstores, please link each one separately.

There are 2 inserts scheduled for this weekend's paper. Here are a few highlights and a few ideas of what to do with those coupons,

Did you know that you can mix 1 tub of icing with a bag of melted chocolate - or other flavored chips to make an easy fudge? Good reason to stock up on the BC Frosting!

The BC Cookie mix Peanut Butter flavor is terrific and makes great bar cookies - just melt a cup of chocolate chips over the top when the pan comes out of the over for a really yummy and easy treat!

The Breeze & Contour Meters are almost always a good money maker at CVS - they run them on sale from time to time with an ECB and the coupon makes them free! I made $5 on one a few weeks ago.

Homemade Cleaning Supplies - Window Cleaner

One of my son's favorite jobs is to clean the window on the sliding glass door and he also helps clean the bathroom mirror and sink. I have found that he tends to get a bit over zealous on the use of cleaner!

This concerned me because I figured that he was breathing in the fumes from the ammonia in the cleaner which would not be good for him. So I decided I did not want him to use the "Windex" any more and had to come up with something else.

I could have bought a "natural" cleaner - but they tend to be pricey! So, I found that there are may recipes online for making your own window cleaner so I experimented and like this one very much!

I double the recipe and it fills my old Windex bottle nicely - I don't even think my son knows the difference!

Here is the recipe!

Window Cleaner

2 Cups - Water

1/4 Cup - Vinegar

1/2 teaspoon - Liquid dish soap

2-3 drops - Blue food coloring
(optional)

Sunday Meditations

A few weeks ago in church we sang the song "Jesus, I Am Resting", my son who is 6 told me that it is his new favorite song and so we've been singing it during school time - I love to hear him sing it, it is so sweet! The (almost) 2 year old chimes in too with her own version of the words.

Here are the first 2 verses. For the complete words to this and many other hymns go here.

Jesus, I Am Resting. Words by: Jean S. Piogott

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.
Thou hast bid me gaze upon Thee,
And Thy beauty fills my soul,
For by Thy transforming power
Thou hast made me whole.

Refrain:
Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.

Oh, how great Thy loving kindness,
Vaster, broader than the sea!
Oh, how marvelous Thy goodness,
Lavished all on me!
Yes, I rest in Thee, Beloved,
Know what wealth of grace is Thine,
Know Thy certainty of promise,
And have made it mine.

Enjoy a blessed day of rest today!

Castleton Goodwill - Girls Holiday Dresses

I stopped by the Castleton Goodwill (near the mall) yesterday and noticed they had several really pretty little girls holiday dresses! If you are looking for a holiday dress on a budget for your little girl - now is the time to keep a look out at Goodwill and the local consignment shops! Dresses at Goodwill are only $3.99.

I have noticed that the selection really varies from one Goodwill to another depending on location. I have found a good selection at the Southport location and at the Castleton location. There is also a new location on County Line Rd in Greenwood - near the Wal-mart.

When you shop at Goodwill - check to see if there are carts with new merchandise sitting around and check them! I found my son a practically new, perfect pair of warm winter boots for only $2.99 on a cart. These boots would not have lasted on the shelf - they were a great deal!

Aldi Deal Alert!

I stopped by Aldi (East Washington St - just west of Shadeland Ave.) and found some great deals!

Milk $1.49 - gallon

3 - lbs apples in bag - $1.19 (that's only .40 a lb!)

Large Eggs $ .89 dozen

Of course Aldi is a great place for many of your staple items too like flour and sugar. Since I am pretty well stocked up and didn't need any meat, I was able to get most of the items we needed for the week for only $30.
