Meijer Deals - East Washington Street Store

I just got this email with a great deal from Dawn - a Frugal Indy reader. Thanks Dawn!

The Meijer on East Washington had about 30+ bags of apples (near the the little room in the back where they check in produce) for $.10/lb. The bags were made up of Gala and Golden Delicious apples (and maybe others), somewhat on the small side. I bought about 15 lbs to make lots of applesauce! I've had one of those fancy apple peeler gizmos for several years ago, but never used it. I think I'll be digging that out of the cabinet.

Also, several months back, you had asked if Meijer marks stuff down in the evenings. My general grocery shopping time is 8-9 p.m.--the deli closes at 9 during the week and they do place several bags of deli meat on the counter for $1.50/lb (including some roast beef that runs $8 something a lb!).

One last Meijer deal is the mark down cooler for refrigerator products (ie. yogurt/cottage cheese). We go through a lot of yogurt in our house, and can usually pick up several days worth at half off (minus whatever coupons I have).

I thought you might enjoy this deal too! If you have a good deal email me and I'll let everyone know!

EcoStore $2.00 off Coupon - Blog Exclusive

I am so excited to share this blog exclusive coupon with you! It is for $2.00 off any EcoStore Product. EcoStore is sold exclusively at Meijer stores.

Click on the coupon above or click here for the Eco Store Coupon

Sometime ago I did a review of EcoStore Spray cleaner, which I love because it is the only cleaner I have found that doesn't cause my hands to crack. Although I am very frugal and can sometimes get other cleaners for free, I would actually pay money for this one! And that is saying a lot.

Meijer sells several of the EcoStore products including EcoStore Spray cleaner and Laundry Liquid. I also liked the Laundry Liquid very much and will be checking the pricing on this with the coupon since I am low on Laundry Liquid! It was Very concentrated and lasted a long time!

Here is the review that I did previously on EcoStore Spray cleaner.

I am really excited to be able to introduce a new product to you. I was contacted by Meijer and asked to test and do an honest review of a new product line they have just introduced to the Meijer stores.

Meijer is introducing the EcoStore products to the US market. The EcoStore products are plant based cleaners that contain "No Nasty Chemicals".

I was excited to test these products because they are environmentally friendly and also safe for children and pets. Also, I have severe problems with my hands cracking due to cleaners, so I was happy to try something that might possibly be more hand-friendly.

Several weeks ago I received 2 cleaning items to test. The first I will review for you today, is the EcoStore Spray Cleaner. This product is a citrus based all-purpose cleaner. I first used this product when we needed to clean our whole house.

To give the EcoStore Spray Cleaner a real test, I dispensed with my yellow rubber gloves. If a normal all-purpose or window cleaner type product comes in contact with my hands, the result, for me, is cracked and bleeding finger tips. So, in order to give you an honest test of the product, I decided to donate my finger tips to science for the day!

I used the Spray Cleaner to clean my baths and kitchen, including the mirrors and toilet bowl. I found the cleaner did much better than I actually expected, cleaning even the mirror nicely! I have to admit I was surprised that it did not streak. I have tried citrus based cleaners before and was not impressed with their final result. But, I found the EcoStore Spray Cleaner did a very nice job.

So, here is my opinion on the EcoStore Spray Cleaner:

What I liked about the cleaner was that it cleaned everything well. I liked that I could use just 1 cleaner for all my cleaning. It made it easy to go around the house and not have to take 3 or 4 cleaners around to all the bathrooms. What I liked best is that my hands did not crack or have any negative effects from the cleaner. That is a big plus for me! I liked that it contained no chemicals and since I have small children and a cat - that is a good thing too!

Scent is rather subjective, the cleaner actually had a rather non-descript smell. It did not have that strong "cleaner" smell, which was nice, but it didn't actually smell real "citrusy" either. So if you do not like cleaner fumes, this may be something you like, if you crave the "Pine-sol clean" smell, you will not get that with this cleaner. I would describe it as a non-descript and non-offensive smell.

Would I buy this product? (If I can get it at a good price,) I certainly will use this as my cleaner! (After all, this is a frugal blog.) I have had such problems with cleaners causing problems with my hands, that I was just thrilled that my hands were great after using this one!

Here is some information from the EcoStore website about their products:

Safer ingredients:

We use sustainably sourced plant and mineral based ingredients to create safer, healthier products that do the job just as effectively as the petrochemical based ones.

We practise the precautionary approach - if there is any doubt about the safety of an ingredient for the environment or for people's health we will find a safer alternative.

Outstanding performance:

We set the benchmark high. Our products have to perform just as well or better than top selling supermarket brands and our research and development team is second to none.

Value for money:

Our plant based ingredients are more expensive than petrochemical ones but we manage to keep our prices down by economically concentrating our formulations.

We don't use cheap fillers or bulking agents - just pure active ingredients.

Cost per use is actually less than many other supermarket brands.

If you would like more information on the products you can check out the EcoStore website here.

Super Shopping Day! $300 for only $73 OOP

Today I did some major shopping. There were some great deals out there and I took advantage of the Super Double Coupon sale going on at Kmart.

I normally try to limit my shopping to 1 store a week plus CVS and Aldi if needed. But, because my hubby was off today and I had some extra help, I decided to tackle a bit more.

We started the day with FREE BREAKFAST at Chick-fil-a! Then across the street to Meijer for a few items. I realized when I was shopping, that I would do much better with some of the items I wanted at the Cumberland Meijer, because they have a much better coupon policy. So, I decided to wait on some items. One of the best deal I got at the Southport Meijer was the Duncan Hines Cake mixes, priced at .96 with a -.35/1 coupon (doubled -.70) for only .26 a box. (These were $1.25 at the Cumberland Meijer)

After that, we went home and I left the napping baby at home with daddy and went out with my 5 year old. We went to Kmart Super Center and then to Meijer in Cumberland (East Washington Street).

Kmart has cheese for only .88 for 8 ounces! That is a major stock-up price! I will be going back for some more. There was a limit of 6.

I went a bit over budget for the week, but I should be able to make that up next week, since I am really well stocked up now.

The picture above is of a lot of my purchases, but not everything. In the end, I was able to get nearly $300 of groceries and supplies for $93. I will submit a $20 rebate for the turkey taking my OOP for today down to only $73.

If you cut out the Unilever rebate a few weekends ago, don't forget about it! There are sales on a lot of the items this week. I got Ragu for less than .70 a jar at Meijer (with coupons). Also, I got free Ponds face cloths at Kmart. Both of these items will count towards my required purchases for the rebate.

Thanks to the wonderful blogs who helped me snag these deals! Before I go shopping, I just go to the blog I want and print what's on sale with the coupon match-ups. I take the printout with me. It's easy and fast! Then I can look at the store for the items I want and pull my coupons there.

So, where can you find great deals?
Please go to The Grocery Get-Together for this weeks sales! You can find Kmart deals here.

Before you go to Meijer, don't forget to check the Meijer Mealbox for coupons! You can find it at the end of this post.

I also got several free bottles of V8 fusion and Promise Super-Shots (also on the Unilever rebate!) for a great price too!

Coupons and Couponing Information

Did you know that Meijer has coupons available on their website?
You can print them from the Meijer Mealbox above.

To Print Meijer Coupons:

1. Click on Specials.
2. You should see a list of coupons.
3. Click on the image of the coupon you want to print.
4. Click on Print - on the right side of the box.
5. A pop-up should open with the coupon to print.
6. Select Print.

Note:  I use Safari Browser and can not print from it.  I have to open my Explorer browser to print.

I have found some very good coupon to combine with sales at Meijer.  These coupons do not double, but they can be combined with manufacturer coupons.

I have also found that different Meijer stores double coupons differently.  The Meijer on East Washington Street, Indianapolis will double coupons up to $.50 and above $.50 it will take it up to  $1.00.  (ie.  a $.75 coupon gets another $.25 added to it.

The Southport Meijer only doubles up to $.50 and nothing else.

Here are some more coupons for you!

EcoStore products have been introduced in the US as a Meijer exclusive item. If you purchase an EcoStore item at Meijer in March you will get a Catalina for $2.00 off your next purchase. You can also print a $1.00 off coupon here. So that gives you a total of $3.00 off each EcoStore item.

The coupon expires 3/14/09 and the Catalina deal is only available for the month of March. I do not know the shelf price at Meijer for the EcoStore items, but it is my understanding that with the coupon and Catalina deal that they will be very affordable.

I will be reviewing the EcoStore Laundry Liquid very soon for you also! So check back in the next few days for that review.
