Kroger Closing at 38th and Post - Coupons Match-ups

Here is a great list of some coupon match-ups and deals for the Kroger at 38th and Post - thanks again Dawn! I can't wait to go and hopefully stock up on cat litter!

----------------------------

If you have them, bring these coupons:
1) John Frieda Root Awakening ($3, from last weeks paper)--that will be free. Actually, she only took 1 coupon because the $3 coupon was more than the 2 products cost. I had several coupons, but I wasn't sure how much they were to begin with, so I only got one set.

2) Chi-Chi Salsa will be $1.00, not the greatest deal, but okay.
3) Cat litter--great deal. They were 50% off, less $2.00 peelies, I got 2-14 lb boxes for $4.
4) dog treats galore-if you have a coupon, they probably still have it. For example, Busy Bones were $.50 I think.
5) CF bulbs were less than $1 each! (no coupon)
6) Crest floss ($3.99) less 75% less $.75 manny =.25. These were on an end cap.
7) Edy's ice cream, if you have a coupon. I didn't :(
8) Turkey Hill(?) Duo coupon for ice cream
9) Lots of hair stuff left (shampoo, conditioner, mousse) in various brands.
10) Baby Orajel was 75% off, less any coupons you might have.
11) Kashi Go Lean (by front entrance). I only had an Internet coupon so bah on that.
12) Lots of odd first aid stuff (ie waterproof band-aids the size of a book!)

My fave deal was the Infant acetaminophen for $1.10. With two teething toddlers, we've been going thru this quite a bit.

It sounds like there are some great deals to be had! I'll let you know if I find anymore!

Kroger Closing at 38th and Post - Update 6/24/09

I have been told that, as of today, the Kroger at 38th and Post was not doubling coupons or accepting internet printable coupons. I really hope to get over there and check things out tomorrow. If I do, I will give you an update! Thanks Dawn for keeping us up to date!

Kroger Closing at 38th and Post - Update

Here's an update I received from a reader on the Kroger that's closing at 38th an Post - thanks Dawn!

Hi, I stopped by the Kroger at 38th and Post on the way home, figuring there wouldn't be much left. I was wrong--the markdowns on food has been increased to 50%, and on health/beauty/candy the markdown is 75%. The cashier did note that it is day-to-day on whether they will also accept manufacturers coupons (today they did, she wasn't sure about tomorrow). The best buy that I saw was Libby canned pumpkin (15 oz can) for $.25 each. There was a pallet of it left. If anyone likes Morningstar brand frozen products, there was a whole cooler full.

This might be worth a trip to check it out! If you get some of the canned pumpkin Money Saving Mom just posted a yummy recipe for Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins!

Kroger Closing at 38th and Post

From a Reader:

"As you've probably heard on the news, the Kroger at 38th and Post is closing next week. While pickings are slim, there are still some deals to be had. Most groceries are full price, but marked down 25% if that makes any sense. General merchandise is 40% off. You can also use mannies. As of 4 p.m. today, there was quite a lot of organic dairy stuff left. Also, the baby department stuff is all 40% off-some baby food (not much), pull-ups, and some specialty formulas (Neosure for $9 a can) were still available. However, better baby food deals can be found at the neighboring Big Lots ($.25/$.30 a jar). They had a great selection, including several organic products."

Thanks Dawn for letting us know!

Kroger Diaper Deal - Update

If you are planning to do the Kroger Diaper deal here - a heads up about a few things.

When I went to Kroger, the register would only accept 1 coupon for the diapers per transaction.

Also, when they scanned in the coupon it deleted the $3.00 rebate.

So.....

I had to go to the service desk and get the $3.00 refund in cash. Then I did another transaction to buy another 3 items to use my second coupon and get a second refund. They had to do several of my coupons after the sale and give me a cash refund. It seems like the register doesn't want to accept both the coupons and the $3.00 instant rebate.

So if you go - watch carefully! Go to the service desk and get it fixed if it does not ring correctly!

Also, if you get coupons mailed to you from Kroger, there are other items that are included in the deal, like Comfort Q-tips, wipes and other items and you may have coupons for these items!

It made more $ sense for me to buy 2 diapers at 6.49 each and one other item for at least 2.02. I Had several $1.00 off coupons for Comforts wipes and cereal bars so I paid very little OOP with the coupons and the instant rebate and now I am well stocked up on diapers!

They were very nice at the service desk, but it took a while to figure out what was happening!

Kmart and Kroger Shopping

Tonight I made what I thought would be a quick trip out to Kroger and then Kmart to snag a few items.

I went to Kroger first to get a few of the things in the Mega Deal sale.
For $7.01 I was able to get:

1 Quaker Quakes
2 Mini Wheat Cereal
1 Shedds Country Crock
2 bags Armor Meatballs
3 boxes Betty Crocker Potatoes
1 Hamburger Helper Cheesy Enchilada (There was a coupon on one of the boxes of potatoes for free Hamburger Helper if you bought 3 BC potatoes)
1 Kroger baby cups
1 Colgate toothpaste

For those of you who might not be big fans of Hamburger Helper - the cheesy enchilada is great!  I make it up and then add a can of black beans, roll it up into tortillas and put some cheese on top and then brown in the oven.  Really good and really cheap!

Sorry you can't see the stuff too well!  Molly was having a blast putting the groceries all back into the bag!

Next I stopped at Kmart,  I only picked up a few things but it took me awhile to check out.  I won't give you the whole loooong story but I do have good news for you!

Kmart is now accepting Internet Printable Coupons!  My friend Elizabeth gave me the heads up and so I went and gave it a test tonight.  There were clear signs in the store stating they would accept them - except for free items and for razors.

The Internet Printable Coupons also doubled for me!  Well - sort of.  I used 2/ $1.00 off 2 Progresso coupons I printed off Coupons.com,  I also had 2/ $2.00 off 4 Progresso coupons but they would only go up to $2.69 instead of $4.00, so I decided not to stock up on the extra cans of soup.  Also, the soup was clearly marked 2 for $3 on the counter, but was ringing up at $2.69, so that took awhile to get straightened out.

The little boxes of Lipton tea are $1.19 and there were some .50 and .60 coupons out recently, so I got the last 2 boxes of that - sorry if you'd like some too!  Maybe they'll restock next week?

The Kmart Double Coupon Sale is going on through Tuesday, March 17th.  If there are any good coupons this weekend, I will be going back again next week - and will be checking the IP's more thoroughly now that I know they double.

Here are the Coupon Rules for Kmart's Sale:

No Overages

Coupons will only double to the current price of 1 item (This is the reason my soup coupon only doubled to 2.69)

1 coupon per item

4 same items max (Just do multiple transactions if you want more than 4)

B1G1 coupons and Kmart coupons won't double.

75 coupons per day per customer.

Here are my totals for tonight:

Kmart 2.82
Kroger 7.01
Total =  $9.83

Kroger - Sale Ends Today

Kroger is having Turkeys at a great price.  They have Butterball or Honey Suckle frozen turkeys for only .88 cents a lb.  I will be going to pick up a few of these!   (If I have a choice, I'll pick the Honey Suckle, Butterball is not my favorite brand!)

Turkey is a great and one of the most frugal foods I've found.  From a 15-20 lb turkey I can get over 1 week of dinners and quite a few lunches also.  We usually eat hot turkey for a night or two and then I make, turkey pot pie, turkey croquettes, I use the turkey in casseroles instead of chicken and then there is the family favorite, the #1 meal for my crew, the most important reason I buy turkeys and fill up the freezer!!! Turkey Noodle Soup!

We don't necessarily eat the turkey every day for the entire week, I do use my freezer to freeze soup broth and packages of meat for casseroles - so we can spread out the turkey love!

If you think that turkey is just for the holidays, I would challenge you to stop by Kroger TODAY and pick up a turkey - or 3.  They are easy and yummy.  Use a cooking bag for easy preparation and clean-up.  Plus, I've found that with the cooking bags the broth is incredible, and you don't lose any of it!

What is your favorite use of turkeys?  Let us know!

By-the-way, if you are outside of the Indianapolis area, your Kroger sale will most likely have already ended,  Our Kroger ads run Thursday to Thursday, where most areas run Sunday to Sunday.
